Vegan - Cherry Sage Sausages

I made some Cherry Sage Sausages and put them in some sprouted Food For Life Hot Dog buns.  We did some German relish and Horseradish with it for toppings, It was awesome!!!

The sausages take sometime to prep, but you can make 2-4 meals out of them and then freeze them if you want, they come out really well and taste wonderful.  There are also varies to this recipe for Italian and Chorizo sausages that are all very good.

Marathon training…4th week Complete

Okay, so after an ankle scare and a good solid 8 miler on Sunday, I feel pretty good!  Texas has cooled down a lot and morning runs actually do not wear me out nearly as much as they use to.  The beginning of the week was pretty tough, I seemed to have wrenched or hurt my ankle a little but it came back just fine by Thursday and I was able to run on Friday.

The eight miler was nice and when I finished I knew I could do a lot more.  That is a nice comforting feeling to have when you know you can run farther.  I had a group to run with and that was very cool.

Halfway Thru 3rd Week of Marathon Training

So far, so good with the running.  I did about the same as week 2 so far, but will do 7 instead of 6 this Sunday.  I kept my average speed of 10 minute miles for 2 of the three days this week but decided to run 8:30-9:00 minute miles on my 4 miler on Wednesday.  Went well, but took a little longer to recover.

I feel pretty good and have been slowly changing my diet.  I do think it has helped and I am happy I am easing into it (I mean really easing).

2nd Week Marathon Training… So Far….

So I am just going to pop in here for a minute and say how things are going.  Stats; 10 minute miles and very warm mornings :(.  We haven’t had rain here in Texas in about forever and everything is brown.  My yard is covered in leaves, ugh.

But, I love running, and even if it is 90 degrees at 5 a.m., it really doesn’t matter.  I ran 4 miles today and 3 on Tuesday.  I will run 3-4 tomorrow and 6-8 on Sunday to finish up the 2nd week.

As for the raw thing, not bad, been starting out my day with a veggie smoothie that is made up the night before and our evening meals are pretty balanced.  this Sunday I am making a raw meal with some of our Vegan friends.  Of course, I have yet to figure out what to fix, any ideas?

1st Week of Marathon, Whew…

Finished my first week and did pretty well, I think :).  Did about 16 miles all together, with an 8 mile run yesterday.  It was a nice Sunday morning run with about 5 other people and all of them decent runners.

I believe one of the most important aspects of me being able to run long distances has a bit to do with people I run with or people I can get motivation from.  When I see other people trying hard to compete and when they are upbeat about themselves, I feel a lot more motivated.

As for the Raw Food challenge, my wife and I are really researching it and we are going to put in a full raw food meal this weekend.  Plus, add smoothies to our breakfast routine.

If anyone has any decent raw food suggestions, I am all ears!!!

Marathon 1st run, 1st week

So this is my first run for my first Marathon ever and I just wanted to post for a marker.  I have been running consistently for about 11 months now and have done, 5K’s, 10K’s, 1/2 marathons and others, but this is my first 26.2!

Today was a windy and hot morning and my plan called for an easy 3 mile run.  I took it easy and ran for 30 minutes, 10 min pace and burned about 420 calories.  Other than being nearly mauled by a dog whose owner was chatting on his mobile, this went very smooth.

I have really gotten used to running in the early morning, I had Gorillaz playing low in my headphones and the streets were nearly deserted, it was pretty relaxing.

As a plug for my training App, I am using SportyPal and have my plan uploaded to their site, while tracking through my Droid.  It is a good App and I find my GPS has worked where I ran and it is fairly accurate on distance, time and calories.

Marathon Training Started this week

So I have decided to start training for the White Rock Marathon.  It will be December 4th (16 weeks from now)!!!

I kinda took the summer off, maybe not voluntarily, but I did and now I am back with a goal.  I want to start updating atleast every week and hopefully more but I need to keep this account up the best I can.

Also, maybe some user input here… I am going to slowly move into a Raw Food Diet and see how that helps my body through this training time.  I am actually kinda excited about the new diet, it just seems natural and healthy.  I want to be at my very best, naturally, before taking to the pavement for my first 26.2 miles!!!

Anyway, this is just the beginning, wish me luck!!!

Running again, well so far…..

I am back at running again, and it makes me happy.  This has been the worst month so far with my running since last year when I picked it up full-time.  I am happy to be back out there and have found a few more people to run with!

I noticed two things while I was out and not running:

  1. When I am not running I do not update my Tumblr and I do not follow people, which causes me to lose a lot of my motivation.
  2. I get angry and very unhappy, thinking that I will not get back into it or that I am just not motivated enough.

What is great about starting up again, the above two points completely wash away, when I am running outside and enjoying the exercise.  I am back to reading posts and I am hopefully back to be motivated.

Long time off :(

Hey everyone!!!!  I am very sorry for not posting all month.  It feels like it has been way too long.  I have been out due to a couple issues and I think I am back on track now.

I seem to have been doing great up until the 2nd week of June where I through my back out and had not been able to run for a whole week!!! :(  Then I was completely not motivated to do any work at all on myself, I felt like I was going to implode.

I am back though and happy to be running again, I hope to post a lot more (this blog seems to help my motivation).  It is already nice to go look at my favorite people I follow and read about them.  You guys help my motivation a great deal!!!! Thank you!!
